CRISIS Pg 4

Tasks
Read player co-ordinates from within Counterstrike and translate those to 2D map co-ordinates.

Build map 'translator' that will work on any map, including keeping track of boxes, entities, etc.  2D / 3D?  Should be able to do a simple Sim City style scroll, maybe half a screen at a time or something.

Work out a method for doing cutaways on the maps to see through floors and into tunnels.

Add a map overlay for Counterstrike players.  Basically a scaled version of the Commander's map.

Design

Group assignments.

  • Hostage Rescue

  • Hostage Defense

  • Scouting

  • Attack (Shoot-to-Kill)

  • Objective (Disarm bomb, capture objective, etc)

Experience points are awarded to players who complete their assignments and live.  Characters who fail at their assignments - i.e. protect hostages, are penalised XP.

Character XP is stored on player's machines and uploaded along with character avatar at the start of each round.  This will allow people to change their character to fit the mission.

Character Classes - Access to different armour, guns and change in movement rates.

Healing Tanks - If a player is killed then that character is out for x number of rounds while they are healed.

Keep damage simple - Calibre of Weapon + Location of hit = damage

Skill Levels - Restrict weapons & equipment to different levels of XP

Player identification - Should be faster like Quake 3 & Unreal Tournament

Note:  The Crisis add-on at the moment does seem to favour the CT's.  We need to come up with some advantage for the Terrorists.  Perhaps the camera idea that Michael suggested.
